From print to echo.

From ink illustrations to vector art, from paper to web:
posts, ideas, tutorials, experiences, portfolios. Always between visual content and coding.

If I write it, I learn it! That's the reason why I feel to write about it

I really cant understand why frontend templates in joomla always miss the last step. Basic standard templates never show the potential under the hood.

My previous article explained how to assign and call custom fields in your template layout. When the awesome "repeatable custom fields" came out with 3.9 I believed it was going to work the same exact way. I was wrong. When you call your custom field var contianing the sub repeated fields you get an ugly useless unordered list. So I had to find a way to extract them...

The latest version of Joomla 3.7 has finally brought native custom fields. This is an outstanding creative feature with which you can add 15 different type of integrated fields on your articles, and apply them to different groups of fields to different categories. So you can have for example page products sections, events sections, multiple featured images. Let's see how to integrate custom fields with our overriding code and print them in a more sophisticated way than the native "automatic display".

From the paper, to the brass, to the paper again. The long path of this label graphic design, across different materials to the final label work: paper, pixels, brass, golden lamina, and finally, the paper again. And then on a glass bottle filled with Bio Extravirgin Olive Oil.

Everything started with a hand draw engraving illustration; it was digitalized and refined with digital tablet. Then sent to the typography which made a mirrored brass replica. This wonderful shining plate, is needed to impress the golden lamina on the laid paper, with an incredible level of detail.

The master brass cliché is a great piece of jewel, maybe even better than the final label itself.

From hand drawing to the cgi still-life

This image is a preview for a label design concept. Advanced printing techniques involve typographic expansive techniques and materials, like specific papers, resins and golden foils. The cost for a single test print can be high. That's why I pre-visualizzed these drafts before the final approval. That's the best way to present the design work in the way I want, especially for shining materials and other effects.

After the final artwork, I love to manipulate things. In this case I really like both the variations, made on the "Roman ionic desk" illustration. The black & white version really turns it into the highest level of photo realism: a bit of overexposure, depth of field, film grain, dust and particles really obliterate the CGI technique transforming it into something so real.

To the opposite, wireframe version in the second shot tells so much about mesh geometry structure and 3d model quality. And, in this case remeshing process was quite a long work.

The final "Romain Ionic Desk" artwork is in the design CGI illustration section

Learn with a Poster” is online. An idea by giudansky.com.

Making the "Blender 3d infographic poster" or "All the Sailing in a poster", the goal was to design everything you need of a specific subject, in a single map. Better saying "everything you love". We wanted to create mindmap artboards, the perfect notes on a single sheet. An infographic poster both useful and beautiful.

Poster illustrato dedicato a Vacanze Intelligenti

Ten minutes DIY

Logo Ten. Ten minutes: DIY and Garden.

Le Peschiere di Manciano is a meeting place and a workshop. Every corner of this old house, which is founded on the ruins of an ancient monastery, are designed to host different activities: the small amphitheater, the laboratory, the studio, a space hall, a large kitchen, the tree house, the park and the veranda. Many focus points scattered on a hill surrounded by oaks: a green circular border that makes it a magical small world in the heart of Tuscany.
